Tournament review

“This weekend was the inaugural Enniscorthy tournament and what an excellent tournament it was. Lovely hotel with nice food and comfortable playing conditions. Very friendly welcome by Andrew Kildea and his team who were obviously out to make the weekend a great success. FREE tea, coffee and water [...], lovely boards and sets with six games live on the Net each round. Competently controlled by Ivan Baburin with everything very well organised, just an excellent tournament to attend and I’m sure had it not been so close to Gonzaga datewise it would have attracted more than the 70+ who did play. All in all a very welcome new addition to our chess calendar and I look forward to playing there again next year. The Masters section had a small but select field with GMs baburin and Korneev and FM David Fitzsimons who shared first place with Korneev on 5/6.”
