Tiebreak The tiebreak system used is not available. It was probably Median Buchholz: Freeman would have finished ahead of Joyce in Buchholz (20½ v. 20) but behind in Median Buchholz (13½ v. 14). The report on the LCU site shows the top four in order Joyce, Freeman, Zulkipli, Fitzsimons. It's not clear how Zulkipli's byes counted for purposes of tiebreak. Since there were several byes present, and the FIDE-recommended handling of byes in tiebreaks underwent modification around this time, the actual tiebreak scores are murky.
