Tournament review

“... Possibly the best players won in the end. Curtin deserved his success for his determination while Orr, who conceded a 1st round half point, impressed with his general soundness although he had a few anxious moments against Greer and Barry. Smith produced the best chess of his career and was slightly unlucky not to have at least shared the title.”

—J. J. Walsh, Fiacla Fichille, vol. 2, no. 18 (July 1985), pp. 12-17.
